Hi

For some time now my home network (6 point distributed from a D-Link switch) will only sustain 1 wired access point. If I add a second, I lose internet connection after several hours and need to reboot the router.

Any clues, anyone?

many thanks

Peter

Are you connecting to the router using the "uplink" port or one of the 16 ports? The uplink port is supposed to be used between stacked switches - not sure how it would respond via a standard internet router....If it is in the uplink port, try switching it to a regular port....

Despite what the link showed, there is no 'uplink' port on my switch. I have tried different ports for connection to the router and different ports connected to the network points - same issue

HOWEVER!!!!!!

The two new routers I bought default to 192.168.0.1 so I left the IP address with a '0' in the third position, left one at '1' position 4 and changed the other to '2' at position 4. I saved these addresses and rebooted then switched off DCHP on them both, rebooted again and connected both to two of the network points, together with a conventional address (192.168.1.4) to a third network point.................RESULT.........Internet has stayed up for 2 days 8 hours at time of writing. The only thing is I can't connect to their web pages, presumably because of the different mask.

What are your thoughts?
