To start off with this issue seems to be caused by a 2TB Seagate HDD (Due to a current state of purgatory - see below - I can't currently get more than the code: ST2000DM001-1CH164 for this drive, which Google tells me is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148834) that I have split into 4x 500GB partitions; the issue surfaced itself when I upgraded to Windows 10 but may have existed before hand.
I have several background programs that run on the 2TB drive including Dropbox and Steam, my operating system is installed on a 128GB SSD.
When I try copy a lot of files or do a lot of operations on the drive (For example copying a Visual Studio project out of Dropbox to avoid constant syncing) the drive speed starts copying at 80MB/s or so then slows down rapidly and hits a state where it just says "Calculating" from this point my operating system hits a purgatory state where opening File Explorer tends to just hand, Task manager starts loading then stops responding, if I've opened Task manager before entering purgatory the Disk active time is sitting at 100% and Average response time, Read speed, and Write speed are all at 0.
If I try shut down or restart my computer gets stuck on the Restart or Shut down screen and I'm forced to hold in the power button to force shut down.
Once force shut down if I try and boot my PC within half an hour or so my BIOS boot menu doesn't pick up the hard drive at all, I have to generally boot in to Windows, ignore all error messages from applications unable to find their install location, shut down again, and then boot again.
I tried running Seagate SeaTools for Windows to scan the drive, it got 14% in and Failed (Which threw the system into purgatory again).
Programs running on the C:\ for the most part still work (Task manger's issues aside).
Any help would be greatly appreciated
