I dont have the ability to take a pic but this is exactly what the menu says in BIOS

D.O.T. Control [Disabled]
Intel EIST [Disabled]
FSB Frequency [1600]
RAM Clock Mode [Manual]
RAM Frequency [800]
CPU Multiplier [8]

Advanced RAM Settings [Auto]

PCI-E Frequency [101]

Core Voltage [+0.200v]
RAM Voltage [2.2v]
CPU VTT [1.400v]
NB Voltage [1.44]
SB Voltage [1.56]

Spread Spectrum [Disabled]

Also in the "Advanced BIOS Setting" menu, CPUID function, CPUID max val 3(something like that), C1E Speedstep are all disabled.

I mean that looks right to me.. but the computer just refuses to use the multi. 6 or 7 multipliers also have no effect.

Turns out I dont have the latest BIOS, I check recently though and there was only 1.1 but MSI site has 1.2, I will probably give that a try. If no fix though I will look into RMA

Thanks anyway guys

New BIOS did the trick, now not only can I select a different mutli, but I have the option of auto voltages and wider voltage ranges ;o I get what you mean now about windows reading it differently from the actual value. 4.05 looks nice 😛

Pic for posterity

Load is 63-68, only air cooled with Arctic Freezer 7 Pro atm, but going to watercooling soon 🙂

Also that pic is misleading, 450x8 for me needs 1.55+ though that pic was took with speedstep on so voltage is changing all the time

well thats better and your 1.55v for 3.6GHz is about what i got to. OC the Q6600 over 3.2GHz is where your core voltages really start to jump to get to the next level.

Yeah had to up northbridge to 1.44 to help with stability. Having 4 sticks of RAM is a killer it seems. Been tempted by 2x4gb sticks though ;o

Until I get my watercooling I'm going to go for probably 425x8, 65C is nothing to worry about just the voltage is higher than I would like on air tbh

I think I know what the problem is. EIST maybe disabled, but you need to go to the CPU features section, hit F4 to un-hide C1E to disable it.

That is if the bios is similar to my old P6N bios.

Edit:

Which should be found in the Advanced bios section \ Cpu Features.
