MX150, GTX1050, GTX1060, or Other...

I use Illustrator, PhotoShop, and LightRoom, often all at the same time. I have a laptop, HP Envy Ryzen 5 and Vega 8 graphics card with shared memory. When using Illustrator by itself it often takes time to bring up Illustrator and I often get the infamous "Not Responding" time-outs, sometimes even crashes and kicks me out (Ouch!). So I am getting a new laptop (Yea, new stuff!)

I have asked Adobe for gpu and memory recommendations, but they respond with a link to the Illustrator Hardware Requirements webpage. That's great. But it does not rate gpus such as the MX150, GTX10xx. Also, It does not tell me if an MX150 with 2G dedicated ram is not enough, or if the GTX1060 is overkill, or maybe not enough to run all three Adobe apps simultaneously.

I am not a gamer. I am an HP enthusiast. To run three or more graphic-intensive Adobe apps simultaneously, will 8Gb of system ram and an MX150 with 2G of dedicated ram be plenty? Will I outgrow it in a year as apps become more memory intensive? Or, should I go with a GTX1050 or GTX1060? Is 2G of dedicated ram plenty, or should I get more? Should I up my system ram to 16G? (I am going to do that anyway. Can never lose on increasing system ram).

Ok. Your turn Tom's Hardware. I always turn to your site as a trusted source who, when asked, "How do I get from Atlanta to Charlotte," that you will simply say, "Take I-85 North," rather than ask, "Why do you want to go to Charlotte?"

Thanks

just make sure it have a nice IPS painel or you are going to regret it for the kinda work you do with it.

Gaming laptops are mostly 1080p painels some IPS but with not a great color acurency.
Surface book 2 have really good laptops with gtx 1060, but it is also expencive.

Maybe you should check if you can add another 8gb of ram on that great HP envy
16 GB RAM for sure will help, with multiple ADOBE programs running, and a lot of photos open at the same time. All above mentioned video cards should do the job without problem.

In regards to the ram, when you buy a new laptop, check if the 16GB are in single or dual channel. very often they only use 1 dims in the laptop, some do 2 dims, which is better and faster.

Sweetspot is GTX 1050, no need for the expensiver GTX 1060. Also (minimum) 16GB ram and a powerful laptop CPU (atleast 4 cores) should be fine.
Is the GTX 1050 2GB or 4GB version?

I will probably go with the HP Omen 17t. It will have 16 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2x8GB), Intel® Core™ i7-8750H (2.2 GHz, up to 4.1 GHz, 9 MB cache, 6 cores) + NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050Ti (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated). There are other features, but for what I am doing these are the hilites. Thanks mjbn1977 and budgetgamer12345 (Wait... 12345?.... that's the combination to my luggage!). Today it costs $1129, a pretty penny, but thanks to all of the gamers driving up the technology, I am getting a dream machine at a reasonable price. Thanks again for the help!

Wow 1129 dollars is pretty good for that powerful laptop. Good luck with your new laptop.
