my 3DMark05 Score... can It improve?

Biggest Bottleneck in your system is your CPU you can either OC it or replace it with a athlon64. But it is a good score for you equiptment.

Well, I'd just like to know where the 1280mb memory comes from? Shouldn't it be 1024?

Also, like stated, your CPU can hamper your performance. Although, the semprons do perform good!

But the score looks good!

1280 = 1gig stick + 256mb stick...

So here is my 3DMark05 score... do you think I could get it better? IS this score good for my setup?
Your score is over 1000 points lower then what normal X800GTO's normally do.

Well that's constructive. Any idea WHY?

Because you have one of the newer, poopy GTO's, that dont overclock.

And without overclocking capabilities, the 12pp GTO's sucked.

wow aren't you a jerk.

Just don't respond unless your offering to help or something... I mean, I got that card based on comments and suggestions from people on this forum, so please don't make me feel like a freaking idiot.

thanks for absolutley nothing.

You hear all kinds of chaff from this site, it takes some skill just to seperate it into good and disregarded piles... then you research some more and decide for yourself... for it is your money and your PC...

Your being mean ya big bully; knocking someones brand new card. You are a 3dmark perfectionist. Not everyone is going to match your scores.

It does stink when getting a card that OC's less than was hopeful, but a GTO is still a decent card. Considering his budget was under $200 IIRC, not much you can do better in AGP than a GTO for $170. He could have spent more money on a 6800GS without any performance boost, but what good would that do with the AGP ones clocked so poorly anyways.

For him, I say if the system is performing equal to other GTO's at stock speeds, then forget going for 3dmark records and enjoying the much better gaming card than what he originally had.

Thank you! *APPLAUSE*

This is exactly how I feel. I mean, to put it in the correct light, my fx5200 was giving me a score under 1000 on the same becnhmark test. It was like a SLIDESHOW during the game tests... terrible.

I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't losing a LOT of points that someone might be able to help me improve it.

I could've gotten a 6800GS, BUT - they were out when I needed to order, and from some of the people I talked to the GTO had better performance in some games, and was easier to overclock.

I still even have the option of UNLOCKING the 4 pipes on my card, it is the correct type... I am just afraid I am going to burn it out or something, since I've never flashed a BIOS before on a GPU... and I am not sure how much MORE performance that would get me.

I have this card overclocked, but it does get over 70 degrees after an hour of heavy gaming, and I am not sure if that's too hot... (dont answer here, Im gonna start a new thread for that..)

thanks for the kind words...

Flashing the bios of a video card can be scary but its very doable. The main precaution is to make sure the power doesn't go out while you are flashing the bios. As long as you find the right bios, which since many people unlock GTO's I don't think it will be an issue, the right program for flashing (i use nvflash but idk if it works for ATI cards hehe), and read all the steps before you start you will be fine. When I did it the first time I printed out the readme file and kept it next to me incase I screwed somethign up and needed to know some extra commands.

Well, ya got to understand. GW had a GTO and has moved onto a 7800GS because of not being happy with the performance. Plus he likes to squeeze alot out of his cards, and he does get some high 3dmarks. SO getting a card that is not as good an oC'er as other equal cards...means junk to him in some ways. (Infinion mem GW 😉 ). I think his high OC'ed GTO scored higher 3dmarks than my somewhat OC'ed 6800U. :x Anyway, since I was one of the many who responded to your original questions about what to buy, I felt bad for your new card getting slammed. I thought I'd give GW a hard time about it as we get along well here.

I haven't heard of an AGP GTO that unlocked. Just a couple PCI-e GTO's and the GTO2.

Well someone told me to look at the version numbers in ATItool and if the F's were in the right place, where they were, it was available.

Well I don't have a diskdrive... so I dont even know if I CAN do it at all...

Someone in another forum told me how.

There are ways around using a floppy drive. I believe its possible to configure a USB key to do the same thing that a floppy disk would in this case, but i have never done it myself. I tried to onec or twice and it was just easier to pull out my POS floppy drive, shut down my pc, install it, boot to disk flash and then uninstall it agian.

I know its not worth the money by any means but they do make USB floppy drives.... WHY WON'T FLOPPIES DIE DAMN IT lol.

I can make a bootable CD... wont that do the trick?

You know.... I didn't even think of that LOL. Wow.... this week has been freakin hell. I'd imagine you could do it with a CD. One word of caution, make a backup of the orginal bios of your card, and acctually read the read me file for the flasher. Other than that, I'd say go for it. I reclocked my 7800 GTX's to 520Mhz from 470Mhz stock and disabled the vGPU reduction under light load, but thats just me. I was going for over volting and it didn't work to well lol. Nothign broke though :)

Lol, I didnt get all bent out of shape a couple of years ago, when you told me my spankin' new 9800 sucked because of the ram that was on it

As a matter of fact, you told me that you had a couple of cards like mine, and you sold them because they sucked so bad

........and people wonder why I am the way I am
