My 3tb hard drive is almost full (161 gb left) even though I've only used 580 gb's...

So this has been an issue for awhile now, but I kinda forgot about it and stopped using my PC much, but I would like to finally fix it.

So like the title says my 3tb hard drive is almost full and has been since I installed it. I've looked in the drive and can only account for around 580GB. I have no idea how this happened or what to do to fix it so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I'm on Windows 10 if that helps. Thanks.

Run WinDirStat again, but right click and "Run as Administrator"

Well..obviously that is not reading everything.
What is your current Restore Point settings?
Often, WinDirStat leaves that off.

Yeah, that's the issue...My entire drive space shows as 740GB even though in the properties it's 2.72 TB

As for my restore settings, i just checked and protection is on for Volume D, current usage is 457 MB, and Max Usage is 1% (27.94 GB)

Well...WinDirStat is reading that Volume as 743GB.

Maybe the drive just needs reformatting.

Do you have any drive space elsewhere, to hold ~600GB?
