I created a $550 build in the hopes of using it for medium level gaming. Hopefully battlefield 3 on medium settings. Process intense games like Kerbal Space Program. I am not too sure what this can do but if you have an idea let me know. I am on a relatively tight budget.

Have any not too expensive recommendations, feel free to share. But honestly, I want to know how this setup will perform as is, and then I might want to go from there.

Also, do I need any additional cables? Thanks

I'd go with 2x4GB RAM so you can take advantage of the mobo's Dual Channel capabilities. Shouldn't cost any extra.
Also, a GT 730 will probably not cut it... You should really try for a GTX750 , GTX750 Ti or a GTX660 if you can afford it.

Well take a look at this you'll easily get bf3 at medium: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WxLgrH And seriously that is dire.

A CPU guild judged that the AMD A8-6600K is better than the Intel Core i3-4150

And the video card I selected runs Battlefield 4 on high settings.

But I am taking your RAM suggestion. Thank you Vex for the suggestion, and Akhil I took your RAM

I appreciate the help so far. But with not too significant of a performance boost, I cannot afford that setup. After an OS and keyboard and mouse is chosen, thats $600+

That video card will not let you play even for 2 years. And do not take an APU. An i3 is a realy great cpu. Which Cpu guild showed you that? Ok then look at this build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/q2RtLk

And an apu is basically a processor + an integrated gpu. And it costs you more than 100bucks. As you are anyhow getting a graphic card and you are stuck up with a 4 core AMD processor, why not get an athlon 760k for 84 bucks and a mobo for 60 bucks and save 30 bucks? Dude I promise you that an i3 would overperform that a8 6600k every day of the week and twice on sunday. For information look here: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i3-4130-vs-AMD-A8-6600K and http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/357/AMD_A8-Series_A8-6600K_vs_Intel_Core_i3_i3-4150.html
And a gt 730 is a really low end cpu. Get atleast a gtx 750 ti if you are serious about gaming. I am sure you will experience lag on bf4 using gt 730. It is a rebranded gt 640 with more memory bandwidth. And I have an hd 6670 which is the AMD equivalent of the gt 730 and it lags like hell on bf4. Anyways its your choice.

That's probably not taking a dedicated gpu into account.

I seriously doubt that.

I rather would look at something like this,

The gpu is older but more powerfull.
With overclocking could that cpu match an i3.
By now would i also go for windows 8.1.

Go with a Pentium G3220 and a Gt 740 instead. The A8 really limits you to what CPU you can upgrade to while the G3220 is a Haswell GPU so you get plenty of upgrade options. The GT 730 is also a very very very bad card, horrible value. The GT 740 should play Bf3 on high settings with 40 fps. Also save some money and get 4gbs since you really don't need the 8gbs
