My A8N-SLI Deluxe will not post! HELP!!

To all HW Experts,
Please help me get my new computer up and running!

Problem: When I try to turn on the power switch, I get about a 1/4 second of power and then it dies.

Setup:
I have a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe board. I installed the AMD 64 FX-53 cpu chip. Usually with the FX series, you get a heatsink included (which I did). It also states that it is designed for 64-FX only. Well, instead of using the recommended one, I got myself an Asus Star ICE color that *should* work with AMD 64FX chips. I also have a 1 Gig 512x2 DDR400 Dual memory in the blue slots as one pair of Dual-channel memory configuration. My power supply is OCZ 520W and it has either 20 or 24pin connection configuration.
It should boot up as I have confirmed the cable connections for the power supply to the motherboard both the 24pin EATXPWR1 and the 4-pin ATX12v.

The PSU uses 115v here in Japan and I connect the power cable directly to the wall outlet. Also, when I turn the PSU to on, a green light in the A8N mobo lights up which is telling me things should be ready to boot. Then I turn the switch on and it only get a wink surge of power. :<

so...why is the power dying on me? What am I doing wrong?
and yes I have the CPU fan color (3-pin) connected.

I didn't read anything about the VGA cards but I assume you connected those to the PSU.
The Asus StarIce cooler is not really a good cooler. You could get another one.

Have you checked for any standoffs shorting to the motherboard? Also, you may want to put the boxed cooler back on the CPU, as a fan that "should" work but doesn't may cause your CPU to overheat and die.

But definatly check the motherboard for missing/misplaced standoff, and make sure you use the little fibre washers.
