First time poster, long-time lurker. Thanks to TH I've finally gotten the guts to build my own system. You guys rock!

I'm just building the desktop, I don't need any other peripherals. Video/image processing are my major system needs with home automation & management.

I didn't have a specific budget but I wanted to be as frugal as possible. -kids ain't cheap :)

I'll be building her on Wednesday. Total $: 780

Antec Truepower 750w PSU
Antec Six Hundred Case, 120mm fan x 4, 220mm fan x 1

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban
Gigabyte AM3 SATA3/USB3.0 ATX Motherboard GA-890GPA-UD3H
8GB Corsair DDR3 RAM

nVidia GeForce GT 220 1 GB DDR3 DVI/HDMI Video Card
Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive

500GB SATA 3 HDD (only for OS)
1TB SATA 3 HDD

The XFX isa better PSU than the Antec

Only other thing is I'd consider that for another $100 ($867) you could do a SB build that would hugely speed up ya video editing ...and it allows you to add a 2nd GFX card down the road:

^ Lawl I didn't notice how you saved money for SB until I saw that you dropped your 8gb of ram for 4gb.

Where is a review that says that specifically? The Antec Earthwatt Green series has a solid reputation, both are 80+ Bronze, both are solid. Why buy the more expensive one? Yes, the XFX is the same price, but that is only after MIR. But the XFX has 12$ shipping. While the antec has free shipping and no MIR.
