My charger exploded, but it's still working. Is it safe to continue using?

So, not too long ago i was playing may Acer laptop, then suddenly i heard a loud 'TUD' and an odd smell, not quite like a burning smell, like a metalic smell. And quickly realized that it came from the battery thing on my charger.

I quickly unplugged it from my laptop, to take a look at it. It seems the casing on the battery couldn't hold on and so it broke open. So i thought, i had to buy a new one because it wouldn't work.

It currently looks like this https://ibb.co/c6EgaF

But there was no fire, no faulty on the cable, it just seems like it's still in a perfect condition, just the battery lid is opened. So I decides to try and plug it back to my laptop, and guess what, it still works like normal.

So my question here is, if I continue using it, is it safe? Should I buy a new one? And if I contact Acer about this will they replace it free? because this kinds of thing isn't suppose to happen right?

Thank you for answering. Your help is much needed.

Here's what happened. The plastic case got heated up (which is normal) and expanded. This led to the cover just popping. Since there is nothing wrong with the electrical parts, and just the case that is open, your charger works fine. However, the metallic parts of your charger are exposed so I *highly* recommend you don't use it. If your laptop is under warranty, Acer will replace it/fix it (depends) for no cost (shipping may apply in some cases). If it's not under warranty, you will have to pay Acer to fix it, but in that case I would recommend you buy a new *genuine* charger.

Again, the metallic part is exposed and has a high risk of causing electric shocks.
