Hello,
I booted my desktop computer up and the screen was flipping out on my wallpaper, then it just went blank. now whenever i turn it on most of the time i get no display at all. but sometimes it comes up all glitchy for alittle bit almost makes it to log in screen then blank again. i know it's not the monitor what else could it be? ram? motherboard? thats what most of my internet searching has come up with for answers. does anyone have anything more absolute? and if you have an answer, whats the solution, fixable, replaceable? fubar??

Hang on. Let me use my psychic powers to find out your system specs, how old your system is etc.

"flipping out" really is not a useful description. Was it flickering? Was it corrupting with weird colours? And you know it's not the monitor because you tried another monitor right?

Anyway, while I wait for my psychic powers to activate, I think the most likely is a graphics card issue but really, just go through some basic troubleshooting with all the components:

-download HWmonitor and look at your temperatures. post them here
-take out your graphics card if you have one and try using the integrated instead. If you don't have integrated or are already using integrated, try another card.
-run memtest86 boot disc for 6-8 hours to ensure your ram is stable.
-Could be a motherboard issue.

Anyway, let us know and I'll try to help more.

what does "fubar" mean?
