what are the symptoms when a computers motherboard goes on the blink

Run through the troubleshooter in homebuild section, rule out a few things before assuming its the mobo,

it could be multiple things if it dose not show the display it could be the processer or graphics, whem my screen was screwed up i assumed it was the cpu, then i searched up broken graphics card then cpu, thenn psu but then i narrowed down the graphics card..i ordered a new 8400gs and hopefully its fixed
