Hello i've bought a second hand pc(1gb ddr2,cpu dual core amd 64, 250hdd,geforce gt8600), at first i had problems installing a windows xp sp3 on it because it was shutting down every time the ''setup is starting'' screen was showing but i managed to get a win7 to work on it.
All good since i started to play some games, computer was shutting down cuz of overheat i think.I installed speedfan to check out temperatures on cpu,gpu and they were pretty high not to mention the video card didn't have a cooler on it, i cant open the chase because i will loose the warranty.
Last game i played computer shuts down and if i power it back monitor wont show anything, and i get no beeping or any other kind of errors, it just stays powered without anything happening. Any suggestions?

I recommend checking your video cables. Ensure to replug in both ends even if you know they're already plugged in and checked them once.

Since you can't pop the hood, the only thing I can think of is to power it down and unplug it from the wall or flip the psu switch it and let it relax for 5-10 minutes and start it up again.start it up again.

If you have another monitor in your house (or a friend can bring over) then try that on your machine. If you have a laptop then try your monitor on that to help eliminate some possibilities.

If you can't resolve anything then I'd call up support and see if they have any solutions and if not then put your warranty to use.

Yes the monitor is powered and its getting warm. When i usually powered on the pc i was getting a noise and the gigabyte logo was popping up then the system started to load windows etc., but now i don't get even that noise, and since its very silent i looked at the fans and they all seem to work.

i tried everything i could, nothing seems to work, all i get when i power the pc is strange ticking after which nothing happens. It's not from the hdd because i managed somehow to remove it without affecting the warranty. My hunch is either the PSU either the video card. Guess i will go to my warranty provider, if no one comes with a better idea ofc.

Try to get to the safe mode, keep pressing F8...

If u cannot get in not much anyone can do at this point.

when i power it up i dont get any screen so F8 is out of the question. Ill try change my psu or restart bios. I hate when a second hand gives me warranty on a used piece of junk, its like if they knew what would've happened :(

Right.

One last notice, i have another pc and I've checked the fans(system fan which is the fan from PSU) from pc health on bios and it shows me 2000rpm. On the second hand pc i bought system fan rpm was 0 so i'm starting to think that is the main problem, thing is i hope it didn't burned anything.

U said it.

Speedfan is the name of the program. Its monitoring your temperatures on cpu gpu hdd etc and rotations from your fans. I got those temperatures right before the pc quit to work. Thought it might be helpful in giving some advice.

Nope its not working anymore i tried anything i could besides removing the hood to see whats going on down there. Right now i'm tipping from my other pc, and checking all the forums to find a hint or something because i don't want to kill the second hand guy when i bring him this rusted thing. I mean i want to be 60% of the error so i can screw the warranty and open the chase and fix it.

Also now when i turn on the pc the i hear a strange ticking noise without showing anything on screen ofc, just like u hear when it restarts without warning,it ticks each 2 or 3 seconds. Its not the hard drive cuz i removed it and the sound was still present, the cpu fan is spining could it be that the PSU fan is not working?
Ok so i managed to get it working again removed the Psu and change the ram slots, but it still shutsdown when i play.

OK problem solved. I screwed the warranty opened the chase and guess what i found.
I removed cpu cooler, and when i pulled the heat-sink out the cpu was glued to it with some strange paste(it wasn't cooling paste that im sure) and also it was not placed in the socket ffs. So i removed the paste added some cooling paste placed the cpu into the socket and now it works fine. Those damn second hand sellers tried to screw me. You can close this now thank you.
