Hey guys,
When I open 'My Computer' the search bar takes forever and gets stuck at nearly full, shows no items, just a blank screen, not even pc info on the bottom, also, right click on My Computer>Properties shows no RAM or CPU. Please help me, Im really worried. Will a clean new Windows 7 install fix it?

That's why I asked if the rest of the PC was working fine. When you have strange problems like that... usually your OS got corrupted and the easiest way to fix it is reinstall Windows.

Looks like a really <mod edit> malware attack or some kind of f8ckd up system crash. A clean install will be the best choice for you.

You may have a chance at fixing if you want to try,

If you have a spare PC or a friends you can use, then,

1) Download http://rescuedisk.kaspersky-labs.com/rescuedisk/updatable/kav_rescue_10.iso

2) Download LiLi http://www.linuxliveusb.com/download

3) Get a Pendrive (at least 2 GB)

4) Plug PD into Friend's/Spare PC.

5) Open LiLi

6) Choose iso you downloaded.

7) Choose PD.

8) Deselect options to hide files, select option to format in Fat32.

9) Plug PD in your PC.

10) Press Esc/F12 as per your PC to open the boot menu, select your PD from the list.

11) Let Kasperesky boot up and scan your drive on which you installed windows and any other drives.

Tell me if this helps or not.

I agree that it looks like a malaware slap of some sort to me.

However I do not agree with the the steps to fix. As you have already backed up your personal files, I would just reformat the entire drive and reinstall windows.

If you seemed to have backed up your files and have nothing left to recover then the best bet would be a reinstall. A system restore is still risky because sometimes the malware patches itself to the bootloader, which could cause it to be there even if you restore.

So if you got the files, then format and re-install.

If not, and you feel like there's something you have to retrieve and you need it to try to access it in someway by other means to do so, then an antivirus liveUSB is the best way to go.
