My computer turns on and off in a infinite loop

I installed a new game on my steam account and as soon as I clicked play, my screen froze. I manually shut down my computer. When I try to start my comouter again it turns on for a second than off into an infinite loop. Oddly enough when I remove the power supply from the gpu, the computer stays on, my led lights my motherboard and my psu. When I reconnect the cords to the gpu, the computer turns off. Is the gpu the problem here?

Specs:
Ram: 8gb
Gpu: 970 gta
Psu: cx750m corsair
Cpu: Intel core i5 (I think)

Do you have any spare parts you can swap in to test it? Such as your previous video card? Also try re-seating (taking out and putting back in) the video card, RAM, etc., and then turn it back on.

I do not have any old gpu card to test this out. But for sure my mb turns on and my psu turns on. I've tried reseating my gpu however that didn't silver my problem.

Strange. Almost sounds like a power supply issue. You cannot use the on-board video? If your MB has video out, you can use the Intel video temporarily, but you're saying that it infinite loops without the video card?

Yes it infinite loops without the video card.

Sounds like it's either a power supply or motherboard malfunction.

Manually fixing is outside my area of expertise, but I have seen other Tom's Hardware threads recommend buying this tool to test power supplies.

Try removing the BIOS battery for 30 seconds and then putting it back in.

Are you installing the GPU while the PC is powered on?

No I'm installing the gpu when the whole.computer is turned off. Are you guys any familiar with resetting the motherboard bio settings? I might try that before I try to buy anything.

Zapash: yes I am trying to do just that. Iso there another way to reset bio settings?

That's what taking out the battery for 30 seconds does.

Removing the BIOS battery will reset the settings of the BIOS. Try that as it has fixed many of my problem in the past

I cmos jumped my motherboard and it didn't work, I removed the battery and put it back in and the computer is still stuck in the infinite loop

Did you leave the battery out for thirty seconds, and then put it back in? When my computer was doing that type of loop, the motherboard was shot, but it could also be the CPU.

I bought a new power supply to try and nope that did not solve the problem. Maybe itsome the motherboard?
