Computer won't start, but then will?
I have this computer and it is acting very weird. After a power outage two days ago, I reset the UPS and the computer wouldn't start up. When I pushed the button on the front, nothing, no post beep, nothing. Like there was no power at all.
I checked the power at it had power. I left it plugged in and about an hour later, when I hit the button, it fired right up like it was perfectly fine.
Well today when I got home, the UPS was tripped (AEP is doing some work in the area and causing some power outages). After resetting the UPS, it wouldn't start.
I carried the computer over to a friends who builds more computers than I have and put it on the bench. He says Power Supply, Motherboard, or short in the switch is the likely cause. Switch is easy to test, it tests good. Replace the power supply and no joy. Verdict, Mobo is dead.
Carry it home, plug it all back in and still dead. Leave it plugged in for an hour and hit the power button, and it fires right up no problem. What's going on?
Is my Mobo Dead or Dying?
It is an old SuperMicro Dual Xeon (3-4 years)
