My computer won't continue with installation

Hello,
I was installing my dell desktop pentium 4 with xp sp3. After it finished copying files it rebooted,It woud not continue with installation. it keeps on rebooting before it loads windows.

Inadequate description of problem.

IF, it is rebooting to the CD, next time it goes for the restart, while computer is performing the POST, open the CD tray, remove the CD, allow computer to boot skipping the now missing CD, put CD back after Windows Setup is in control.

At that stage, the system still tells you to "press any key boot from CD" when all doing that achieves is to start the whole thing all over again. It's a typical piece of Microsoft error making on their coding and should be ignored.

Well, in an ideal world it wants the user to press any key. Some junk out there will ignore the missing keypress and boot from CD anyway. Taking out the CD is the workaround in that situation.

Someone once telephoned me and asked if they really had to hit the N and the E keys as they had been told by a telephone helpdesk. 😀
