My computer won't detect my second monitor???

While both monitors when plugged in work (they both show up as completely identical to the other screen) and are properly connected, my computer still won't "detect" both monitors. Rather my computer recognizes both monitors as the same device.

If you go into your software that came with your graphics card like AMD amd catalyst control center or NVIDIA on mine you can change the setting for each screen. there you will be able to make it EXTEND and not go across your two screens, also check your resolution you should have two different monitors with 1080p resolution yours is probly set to 1080p x 4600
