Hey guys, my computer Is around 5 years old now...

I love to game and lately it's not able to deal with skype/LOL at the same time (the internet drops)

I have verizon fios and am hooked up directly to it...

Yet when I get LOL on this computer(desktop) and skype on my laptop everything runs fine... and the internet dosn't kick out 0.0

My computer is called the Velocity Micro Promagix E2055

Here are the specs:

>Intel Core 2 Duo processor E8500
>256mb ATI Radeon X3850
>3GB Corsair Memory
>500GB hitachi Hard drive
>Windows Vista

I am wondering what you think of my current PC.. and if you guys think I should UPGRADE some of the parts on this... OR if I should TRASH this 1 and start a BUILD from SCRATCH

(my budget would be around $1,000) for the entire build of the tower..
(I already have a keyboard/monitor/mouse/headset) so the $1,000 would all go towards the actual internals of my computer...

Would It be worth it? Would I be able to build something better then what Ive got???

Im a NEWB when It comes to this and have never built a PC before, but I am willing to give it a shot..

I am looking to do this relativley soon as I spend alot of time on my PC and the money is definetly worth spending... rather then sitting in the bank..

Thanks guys!!!

P.S. I have a 1 1/2 Year old alienware M14X that ive barely used...
It's a laptop, I am wondering whether or not I should just try to replace the tower that ive been using on a daily basis and hook my monitor/keyboard/mouse up to my laptop...

Though it's a GREAT laptop I hear that it isn't a good idea to try to replace a tower with a laptop?...

Any thoughts..?

Sounds like its time for an upgrade with those specs and for $1000 it would beat your current one by ALOT, if you need a build for that price just ask me :)

You can just upgrade the GPU to a GTX 760, and the OS to WIN 7, and you will be fine for games and everyday work for a year or so. But if you want a solid performance with games for years to come than you must buy a new one. You can take a look :

Waw, those specs sound like they beat the hell out of my current set-up! and for sub $1000! dam, i may just have to go and do some ordering of parts now lol!

Why go last gen ivy bridge?
Get haswell and a z87 mobo and upgrade to a gtx770 for ~$100 more for better performance and future proofing

It's as if you are speaking a different language right now! (lol)..

But, If I need to spend a bit more $100-200 for an "actual" improvement... Then i'll do it..

Talk to me in PM?

You are welcome.
