My Cpu is making werid nosies

Hello, about a couple of months ago I re-pasted the thermal paste on the CPU and since then it keeps making this noise as if you threw a stone in a meat grinder!
No but seriously it is making this really worrying noise but it is happening all the time and the noise lasts for about 7 seconds then goes away and then comes back.
I don't know if you will be able to tell me what is going on but in case its certain CPUs that do this my CPU is a FX-6350

It isn't the CPU. It's a fan or a hard drive. "Stone in a meat grinder" sounds like a hard drive.

CPUs don't make noise because they have no moving parts.

wont be the cpu itself

might be the bearings on the cpu cooler fan

or the cooler fan might be clipping a loose wire or connector

It could be the fan. I'm just saying the way you described the noise sounds like a dying hard drive to me.

Sound is subjective. I would post an audio clip of what it sounds like.

doesnt sound like hard drive to me and if it happened right after you took the cooler off and put it back on chances are its cooler related

My Hard drive isn't connected and hasn't been for quite a time so it cant be that.

yes if part of the fan casing is broken it could cause it

mcnumpty23 that's what I had in mind but Im not sure where exactly on the cooler is making the noise

if the fan casing is broken it can cause the blades to be out of balance which makes the bearings start making noise

if you have a case fan same size as cooler fan can usually test if the cooler fan is the problem by temporarily taking off a case fan and trying it on the cooler to

see if the noise stops

So is there anything I can do that will stop the noise without me buying a new CPU cooler?

you wont need the whole cooler just the fan

unless its one of those coolers with an irregular sized fan or something odd

I think it the factory cooler the one you get with the FX-6350

if the fans still spinning its probably not overheating though you should check temps

looks like its just an 80mm or 90mm fan on there could just replace it with another fan

yeah could just replace the fan

or replace the whole cooler as guessing the whole thing would be £10/15 on ebay

or get a non stock cooler

few options there

Yh good idea and the only reason I'm worrying really is because this computer is going to my younger bro because I've got a much better one sitting in my cupboard waiting for one more piece before it can be assembled and it will be my first ever assemble
