My CPU is Really hot!

So I have had my Computer for about 8 months and I built it for gaming, and I have always wondered why I was get 30 fps on games I should be getting 60 or more. So I cheacked Specky and I realized I had a problem a BIG one.

I need to get the temp down for my cpu, how do I do this? I have 2 fans in the case. There is a bit of tangled wires (I built it) but nothing blocking the fan. So what do you guys suggest?
Also I did build the computer but you might need to dumb down the teach talk for me. Thank you!

What kind of heat sink do you have on your CPU? You might also want to try a more accurate monitoring tool like HW Monitor as sometimes Speccy doesn't read correctly.

Whilst a little hot I don't think that's enough to cause the cpu to throttle?

Get a better cooler for your CPU, are you still using the stock that came with your processor? Change it out if you are, for something like the evo 212 and you'll see a world of difference.

Yes But I see no other difference of why my computer would be underperforming so much. Is it really my spec's I doubt it?

Does that take the place of my cpu fan or is a heat sink different? And will it fit with my current cpu.

You are still in the safe temperature range, what GPU do you have? What game/s are you playing and what frames are you getting in them? The Athlon CPU is a bit outdated and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was holding you back.

Yeah it'll fit, it will replace the cooler that sits directly ontop of your CPU and attaches to your mobo. (It's a full new heatsink)

Arma 2 - 15-20 FPS (I know that this game is very CPU intensive but for 3.4Ghz I am surprised. I have another computer with a similar build but a intel 3770 3.2Ghz and can run it at 30-50)
Hero's and Generals 30-60 FPS
I have more but can't think of any.

I am having a hard time finding any benchmarks for your CPU...I would download CPUz/GPUz along with windows built in performance monitor to check your CPU and GPU load and core clock. What you are looking for is what is holding you up, I suspect your CPU usage is going to be really high, and if you really do have a heating issue you might see the core clock drop down in an attempt to cool itself, causing your performance to dip.

If you have a second monitor it would make it a lot easier but not necessary.
