I am coming to the end of the building my gaming PC and have just booted on with the Intel i7 8700k processor with a Corsair h80i V2 cooler and it is running very hot at about 90 degrees and is not showing any signs of slowing down. that's just in BIOS. Have I done something wrong or is it just not a good enough cooler to cool my processor

Solution
Probably, clean off the current stuff and reapply new thermal paste about the size of a grain of rice. I use a card and spread it evenly over the CPU. Mount the cooler correctly and check your temps again.
Im not sure if this matters but the cooler is connected to the aio pump header as the cpu fan header dosent work cause i have a asus mb with 4 pin connectors and the pump is only a 3 pin conector so when i plug it into the cpu fan header it switches on briefy and then switches off but in the aio pump header it stays on.
