the service documentation doesn't mention how to remove the heatsink. is the heatsink soldered to the CPU/board ? in that case I don't even need to re-apply the thermal paste ?

So you're saying I shouldn't touch it ? it is normal ?

I have a Dell 5175(m5-6y57) and it is overheating.

Idle temp: 68c

While installing Windows updates: 85c

Is the heatsink removable on this laptop ? Can I re-apply the thermal paste ? Any other solutions ?
Hi , this is the motherboard for your model https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003375725227.html, you can see the processor and also the cooling of the sistem , you cannot change much , is no fan , in this case you can try update bios and also all drivers and verify after and see if is a difference.

I figured out the problem, My laptop only overheats when the charger is plugged in and it is charging. When the charger is plugged out, the temps are normal....any fixes for this?
