I built my first my computer recently. I used this http://amzn.com/B003MTTJOY wireless adapter. It worked great! But after a few weeks it just started disconnecting on its own. Through observation I realized that when I downloading games on steam or watching videos it would happen the most. I looked into it and read somewhere on a random post from this site that someone had a similar issue. The advice they were given was to get a new network adapter. The Edimax has too small an antenna to put up with a lot of stress. So I bought this http://amzn.com/B00416Q5KI. I hooked it up and within 5 minutes it had disconnected. The difference being that it doesn't always automatically reconnect. I sometimes have to shut the computer down to get my internet working again.

I am looking for any and all help on the subject! I am willing to buy and actual internal Wifi Card but I didn't want to spend more money to run into the same problem. I am not a super smart guy. I only managed to build my computer after reading a lot about it and watching tutorial videos.

This is my build in case it is relevant to my problem http://pcpartpicker.com/p/J4R2D3

This may not be the adapter at all, it may be something as simple as your router. Make sure that your router's settings are correctly set up and also make sure that the type of wireless (the types are a, b, g, & n; your adapter may only support a few types that the router may not be using). If you are looking to install a network card into your system, I'd recommend a wired connection instead of a wireless one, you'll have less interruptions and possibly higher speeds. (this would also depend on if you had a physical network in your household. If not, wireless is what you need.)

I use my laptop in my place and both of the adapters work on it. The adapter is compatible with b, g and n. I can't do wired but only because I am in a 2 story apartment and the setup is downstairs.
