My dvd writer can't read the cd/dvd dics inserted

How do I check the drive is working properly or not. An if so not working than how will I fix.

You are telling you got a dvd WRITER, not reader. I thought almost all dvd writers could also read dvd's. Go on to the device manager and check for updates or see if it is write only
