Recently my ethernet has stopped working for some wild reason and I can't seem to fix it. I tried a bunch of stuff like, clearing my dns, renewing my ip and I even bought new cables because i thought those might be broken. I think the problem might be because my computer doesn't have a default gateway set but I have no idea how to fix that. Anyway here is my ipconfig, please reply if you know how to fix this or what the problem might be.

Solution
Windows is defaulting to that 169. IP address because the Ethernet adapter is not finding a DHCP server.

If the computer's wireless adapter is working but the wired adapter is not then the wired adapter may have failed in some manner.

You have tried new cables, reconfiguring the ethernet network adapter, reinstalling the ethernet adapter's drivers.

Maybe go back and try everything once more just to double check there was not some error of omission or commission during the preceding rounds of troubleshooting.

Do you have access to another wired ethernet adapter to try? Maybe even a USB/Ethernet adapter.

What make and model router do you...

As I understand it, you are currently using a wireless connection - correct?

Go into your Ethernet adapter's configuration settings.

Change the Default Gateway to 192.168.1.1 DNS Server to 192.168.1.1 Use DHCP - no static IP.

(Note the same IP addresses in the wireless network adapter's configuration settings shown in your "ipconfig".

Then select the Ethernet adapter and unselect the wireless adapter.

You should only have one network adapter enabled. Either wired or wireless. Not both.

Do keep some notes regarding what you change and where you changed it.

Here are a couple of links to help:

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-your-pcs-dns-settings-windows-10

https://www.dummies.com/programming/networking/configuring-network-connections-windows-10/

(Please do not take offense with respect to the second link. No insult intended - the title is just what it is.)

Read the links first, walk through the screens and configuration settings.

Look for other links as necessary to address additional questions or concerns.

Plan out your changes for the Ethernet Adapter. Make no changes to the wireless adapter. However, if you can be careful explore those settings as well just to get a sense of things.

Then configure the wired network adapter as necessary.

I tried both of those but it isnt working, the default gateway still isn't changing either. Now whenever i check the troubleshooter it tells me "Ethernet does not have valid ip configuration"

Configure for Ethernet.

Run "ipconfig /all" again and post accordingly.

What make and model router do you have? The router's logs (if available and enabled) may provide some clue as to what has been happening. Who has full admin rights to the route? You will need help from that person.

Not sure what else to suggest.

Ok so thank you for all the help you gave me on this. I managed to fix the issue, the problem was that there was 2 LAN cables plugged into the router instead of one. That was literally the only problem, i want to die.
