I've seen a lot of complaints about this issue and no real solution posted on these forums.

To those of you maxing the game out getting 40+ fps and still having stuttering...this fixed it for me.

Open console (~)

type (gfx_maxfps 30)

Problem solved...The game runs smoothly now, the frames stay capped at 30 which is very playable and it looks great. It's not such a bad game now.

Found the fix somewhere a few days ago and can't remember where... Tried it last night and was happy.

If this is a re-post I apologize I searched.

Oh good call, i wonder if this command line works in other games.
I have issues with being overspecced for a few older games i still enjoy. Ill post if it does work in anything.

I'm sure there are commands to cap the fps in other games but it might not be the same (gfx_maxfps) I'm interested to see how this works for others so let me know.

Funny how Vsync does the same thing, just with a cap of 60 (or whatever your screen refresh is).

Its all about the drops in FPS, not so much the FPS itself. I would set the threashold a bit higher though; 45 should work just as well...

I'll try to raise it to 45 and see how it goes... I tried vsync, triple buffering you name it... This is the only thing that has worked for me.

I tried everything (changing graphic settings etc.) to reduce stuttering in Far Cry 2 but to no avail. Then I tried pulling out the usb stick that was using Ready Boost in Vista. Stuttering greatly reduced....runs nice and smooth now on E6750, 8800GTX. Obviously Vistas memory management is not so great for games using Ready Boost.
