Never had a pc before so I'm totally clueless in the PC realm. My main goal is to make gameplay commentaries for youtube. I want at least 1080 quality, or as long as the price tag isnt astronomical I would go for 4k capability. The games I woud like to play would mostly be shooters like battlefield, rainbow six, day z, as well as some of the latest and greatest rpg's.
The advice I'm seeking is in reference to what parts I should be looking at and if possible maybe an explaination as to why you recommend the part(s).
Again, I'm very new to all of this so any information is much appeciated. If any of you know of a website/ article/blog spot that would give me good information to help me on this new journey.

Hey Peter. Here's what I got! I'm going to factor out 4K from the situation solely because 4K monitors are costly and have a starting price of around $1000 US dollars.

If you're not in a rush to purchase parts and build the computer, I'd reccomend waiting until the NVIDA GTX 1070 is made available in a few weeks. A non-reference/founders card like the ones manufactured by MSI, EVGA, Asus, etc. will offer cooling and performance that is noticabely better the "stock" cards that will soon be made available by NVIDIA. The GTX breezes through both 1080P and 1440P loads. It can also tackle 4K; but thats for another day... It's shown to trump the GTX 980 in almost all circumstances (don't forget that it is more costly). Here's a build that...

Yes 1440p is of course an option, goes to show how versed I am about all of this. The price range depends. I'm not sure if I should put a whole lot of money in something I'm so new to. If I can be sure that I'm making a sound investment, I could spend upto 1400

Here's a build that revolves around the GTX 1070 if you're interested in it: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/HZW2Fd

If time is of essence, a GTX 980 ti will do. It's approximately $100 cheaper, and performs very well for both 1080P and 1440P gaming.

Also, if you're interested in overclocking your CPU you can get an i5 6600k instead and a z170- type motherboard. You may recieve better performance from that route, however it would add to the price.

I hope I helped. Have a good day man!
