This is my new build. I was just wondering if these parts are good before I buy them. I already have a gtx 1050ti in my current build and am planning to take it out and put it in this build. I will also take the hard drive from my old build and put it in this one but will install the OS on an SSD. I was considering bumping the CPU up to a Ryzen 5 1600 but not sure how much better it is than the 1500X. If anyone thinks anything on this list is incompatible or stupid please say so.

Solution
1600 is a 6 core 12 thread CPU, while your 1500x is only 4 core and 8 thread, the single + quad core performance difference aren't that much, but the multi-core performance had a pretty decent gap 😀
that build of yours is solid, u will be able to maintain steady fps at med setting 1080p / high at lower resolution

Do you think this build is a lot better than my current build?

Pretty much any Ryzen is going to be far better than any FX. Also nice to see a PSU upgrade, the Coolmax is dreadful.

Solution

Yeah the PSU isn't even a coolmax. It's called SolyTech or something. I couldn't find it on pcpartpicker so I just put Coolmax. The SolyTech one is probably even worse so I'm glad I am getting rid of it.

No doubt, but in that PSU tier, it's a bit like arguing whether Stalin or Mao were worse.

So with this EVGA PSU will I notice a huge improvement right away?

Yes, it's a much better PSU, made by Super Flower (yes, I know the name sounds like some dodgy Chinese brand, but they're one of the top manufacturers of PSUs). Cleaner power for your parts and better protections.

Will it be a lot quieter? I think my SolyTech is fairly loud.

Should be. If a SolyTech is loud, I'm assuming that it's asking, in PSUspeak, for someone to please kill it and put it out of its misery.

So overall do you think this is a good build? Should I keep the 1050 ti?

a sad time indeed, mid-end graphic card are always overpriced / out of stock thanks to those miners
RX 470/570, RX 480/580, GTX 1060, and even GTX 1070 is starting to swell up as well, this kind of thing won't affect the upper level but for us non-enthusiast / enthusiast-wanna-be this is terrible 🙁 🙁 🙁

i can't really say since to know how quiet it is, u had to try it urself, i myself had some unknown branded 400w PSU and it seems very quiet (for me at least)

after reading some people sharing their experience about a PC with a coolmax PSU, they seem to be satisfied enough with the quietness, so i guess it is pretty quiet (http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19204)
a friendly reminder: better get ryzen rather than FX, for the sake of futureproofing

I will be getting the ryzen. The build that has the fx is the PC I have right now. The one I'm upgrading to will have the ryzen

i see, then go for it.
FYI, FX won't bottleneck 1050ti but any GPU higher than that will have some bottleneck
