I've always loved spending time on my PC, I mean...what else could I do as a bored teenager during my free time?

Anyways, recently I've been encountering a very weird problem... This specific issue appears and then disappears randomly and it's really annoying.

Yesterday I was doing some stuff on my browser and all of a sudden the sites just stopped loading.. First, I restarted my router, which seemed to fix the problem for a small period of time. During this small fresh breathe of air I immediately went ahead to the Speedtest by Ookla site and ran a couple of scans. There were multiple outcomes from every scan:
-0 Mbps download speed, 900 Mbps upload speed
-900 Mbps download speed, 0.21 Mbps upload speed
-0 Mbps download speed, 0 Mbps upload speed
-900 Mbps download speed, 900 Mbps upload speed

Today is no different.

As you can see, the results vary, HOWEVER the problem is the same, REGARDLESS of the results. I did some basic stuff like opening cmd as administrator and running the flushdns command, but it didn't fix anything.

Yes, I use an Ethernet cable. The router is right next to my PC setup.

Update your post with full system hardware specs and OS information.

Do any other network devices have upload and download speed problems?

Swap in another known working (no speed change problems) if possible.

Otherwise, just try another Ethernet cable: Cat 5e or Cat 6 - round, all copper, AWG 22-24.

Make and model router? The router's logs, if available and enabled, may provide some clue. Who has full admin rights to the router? You will need help from that person.

Check the event viewer and see if anything else might have happened.

Try a different browser if you can. You could also try something other than ookla.
It is strange it is all or nothing. Generally you just get a slightly slower speed result on speedtest if you lose some packets. You would have to have completely loss for many seconds to get a zero rate.

I found the problem. It's from my router. I use a D-Link DIR-1950 and on the site it says that they don't support this model anymore. I can't even get any firmware updates and it won't let me reset it. It's not from my PC, so I'll just buy a new router from ASUS or something... Also don't buy from D-Link, they sell trash products and their customer support is laughable.

Seems all vendors are putting out garbage lately even asus has had some pretty big issues.

If you want inexpensive with fairly good support I would look at tplink. If you go with asus I would look for a router that supports merlin firmware. Gives you another option and merlin firmware favors stability over features that few people use.

Is the ASUS TUF Gaming-AX6000 good for gaming? Is it compatible with merlin firmware?

There is no such thing as a "gaming" router. Maybe they should put " new and improved" on the box also. It is all marketing bull.

I am not sure about merlin support asus likes make many models that are almost the same. The gt-ax6000 is on the list but I don't know about a TUF-ax6000.

That is a extremely expensive router compared to what you currently have. Wifi6 is not really worth the extra money people see very little increase in wifi performance. You are better off getting wifi6e but it is even more expensive and you would need wifi6e devices to take advantage of it.

If you are using ethernet none of the wifi stuff matters and that is what makes this more expensive. You need nothing real fancy when you are running ethernet. Your dlink should be fine if it did not have some kind of bug.
