Hey guys, I built my computer back around late may to early June. The reason why I say this is because not all the parts came in at the same time. The last part to come in was my Asus 7870. After I installed it I went on and tested it on some simple games like mine craft and team fortress 2. Keep in mind these games are no where near demanding. My video card runs mine craft maxed out at around 100 fps and tf2 maxed at about 80. I know for sure it's in the right
Pci x16 slot, and I know I'm hooking the dvi (I think. It's white) to the video card. What could be wrong? Thanks.

Dont use games like Minecraft to check if your graphics card is performing up to par, its a game that doesn't really care what hardware your running and will just do its own thing. Some people get great performance on low end rigs while high end ones chug. Also I suspect its quite CPU bound, not good for evaluating GPU performance. Use a benchmark like 3D Mark 11 and compare to others with a similar rig, or play something like Crysis 3 or Tomb Raider (which you should have got with the card) and compare what FPS your getting to review sites.

Also be aware that once your FPS goes above 60, it really doesn't matter any more. Unless youv spent $500+ on a 120hz monitor, your monitor literally cannot even display the frames fast enough.
There are alot of people complaining about baf fps in minecraft, minecraft is based on openGL. And the coding isnt superior so you wont get a super fps in mc with any card even though my 7950 gave me about 150-200 fps on max.

It is definitely running like it should.

HD 7870 is a mid range video card and you can not expect more than 100 FPS on Ultra on Minecraft. It is performing at its very max.

If you still want to test, download 3DMark and run a test. Compare the scores with others who ran the same test and have HD 7870. In my opinion, the card is perfect and has no issues. You should also try running some other games too and should also make sure that your CPU is not proving to be bottleneck.

Tbh i could actually tell that the game ran much smoother at 170-200 fps than if i turned on vsync and played on 60 fps.
