Those (you mentioned) are MINIMUM
system requirements for Second Life virtual world. Now I got it, your video can not support it.
Let see what you have VS what you need. I would have to digg into previous post and PM to find all info.
First I will list what needed, second what you have.
Underscore will mean
PASS,
bold will mean
FAIL.
CPU
CPU with SSE2 support, including Intel Pentium 4, Pentium M, Core or Atom, AMD Athlon 64 or later. -
Dual-Core CPU E5300@2.60GHz
Memory, first read this
the Viewer can take up considerable RAM (easily over 1GB by itself if you stay inworld for awhile) verify this
1 GB minimum, 3 GB Recommended -
you have only 1GB, not good enough - you might be able to play for a short period of time with all other programs (like Internet browsers and etc) turned off only. If you start Internet Browser while in Second life, your PC or Second Life, would crash.
Video Card.
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better
OR ATI Radeon 9500 or better
OR Intel 945 chipset
You have Intel GMA 4500, which is embedded or integrated video chip and it is right below (almost pass) the requirements. Also, you stated issues with AERO, this is also video card related.
So, for enjoyable Second Life you need video card upgrade and memory upgrade. We talked about memory so 1 stick of this is needed http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/optiplex-780-mini-tower/CT5509175, better 2, but if money are tight, one will do. This will bring memory to 3GB in Total and will PASS.
Video. Low Profile cheap but good.
Difficult task for around $50, cheaper can not go.
GIGABYTE GeForce GT 720
PLUS you need to get
SAPPHIRE 14-999-201 DVI to VGA adapter because, when low profile bracket are installed, you will loose VGA connector, which is located in upper portion of the tall bracket, unless you are OK to have it just sticking out from the hole behind the card.
When low profile brackets are applied, upper BLUE connector has to be disconnected or placed into any hole in PC, which is for you, extra slot behind video card, and it will just hang there freely, or spend $5 for connector I advised.
So, overall, it is at least $80 before tax and shipping where applicable.
