Question My hard drive wont boot and makes clicking noises

Recently I was updating my computer but the power went out and now the hard drive makes a clicking noise,
But I noticed it started clicking during the updates
And now it wont boot

Now it won't boot, for reference irs a IBM T42 thinkpad!

Likely a dead drive.
Replace, and recover the data from your backup.

I have 20+ year old drives that "look new".

I also have actual new drives, that are likewise dead.

Anything old enough to have an IDE drive is not worth putting money into.

What are the specs of this system?
