I didn't even get the chance to try my used cpu (i7 3770) because of some problems and accidentally a very little piece of dry thermal paste is on my processor not on the metal face the other one i cleaned it with a tissue and left it for 2 months and here i am trying the cpu with lenevo h61m and it's not working.
i don't understand what's wrong and i am confused the motherboard works fine but my cpu didn't work with it , *I left the cpu in a tissue outside the motherboard , the cpu looks very clean i tried to clean it with dry akai spray and it's still not working at all , the motherboard was supposed be gigabyte h61m but it's broken so i used the lenovo one instead.
i don't understand why the processor didn't work with my lenovo h61 , i didn't try other motherboards yet , and i can't think for any reason makes my processor broken, could it be the thermal paste? but my cpu is super clean i don't get it.
I came here hoping for answers..

Check update to my previous response.
U saying if the motherboard is updated it should work fine? i'm not really sure because the motherboard wasn't mine but do you think i've done something wrong?
Did i screw up the cpu?
Intel CPUs are hard to physically break. Likely a little thermal paste will not cause issues if cleaned off of the pads.
I suspect the bios is the issue. Do you have a 2nd gen CPU to test with? Do you know what BIOS revision is on the motherboard?

Likely both H61 motherboards will need a bios update in order to work with any 3rd generation CPU.
You will need to install a 2nd gen cpu to update the bios.
