My i7-4770 incompatible or defect?

Hello,

I installed i7-4770 on 2 motherboards, Asus H81M- V3 and Asrock B85 pro4, pc turns on for half a second then shuts down, both motherboards didn't post. Afterthat i installed i3-4130T on both motherboards, they did post. Am i missing somthing, or the i7 is dead?!

Bios version of Asus MB is 3602
Psu 550watt Panda GP550
Ram Gskill 8gb

It absolutely may be a bad processor. If you have a case speaker, you can test it out. Also if it is a problem with the processor are there any diagnostic LED's lit up?

The beep codes vary depending upon the BIOS manufacturer. The AMI beep code for a failed CPU is five short beeps.

Diagnostic LED's are located on the motherboard. The particular LED's and there function is detailed in your motherboard manual. The LED's may be near the motherboard components that they monitor or they may be grouped together.

If any are lit up, note the postilion on the motherboard. And then look it up in the manual.

Some motherboards also include an LED diagnostic display for error codes. In that case just look up the error code.
