So, I had this really great pc, for 5 years.
It did everything I needed it to do.
I mostly did 3D realistic renders on it (Using the gpu alot)
and the suddenly, I got strange artefacts while playing games, a few hours later, It completely wont work.

So, I decided to buy a new next gen upgradable PC, Under $300.
DONT DO THAT!.

I got an amazing motherboard and ram. But a GPU That is malware on its own.
Its an AMD R7240. 2GB DDR3.

And I now want to know, Whats the best GPU for $100?
or 150, if it has a good reason.

But I need a 2GB DDR5 GPU for my rendering and animation work.
I dont care about AMD or Nvidia, I just want to use My pc without disappointment.

Solution

1) Unless your PSU is from a major brand (Seasonic, EVGA, Corsair, XFX, Antec, etc), don't risk it
2) I've already said the 750Ti two times, and AMD 260 once (and now 3/2)
Without knowing what you have it's impossible to recommend anything, but the ONLY GPU that you can get for ~$100 new is the 750Ti

If you want used part, you might be able to find a used 280 or even 780 for that price. If you only spent $300 though, it's likely you will NOT be able to use any reasonable GPU though, since your PSU is likely absolute crap
