Question My keyboard keys get "stuck" in games while in a Discord call ?

Every time I open a game while in a Discord call, most keyboard keys get stuck in the game and only get unstuck after pressing them again. And when I join the same game while not in a Discord call, the keyboard gets back to normal. It doesn't get stuck outside of games, it only gets stuck in games and virtually. Is there any fix to this? It only started recently, and has never happened before.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

What games? Make and model keyboard?

Are you using any pre-programmed key functions and/or key press combinations?

Try another known working keyboard on your system.

Try your keyboad on another known working computer.,

Determine if the key problems stay with your computer or follow the keyboard.

Pretty much all games, I also noticed it happens when I have a game on which uses a lot of fps. My keyboard is the redragon kumara. I do not have any programmed keys.

Okay, then do that - open the game first then Discord.

Should not really be that way or make a difference but sometimes we just need to go with things....

Discord may have some bug that may quietly get fixed and the order of game and Discord being opened becomes mooted.

In the meantime, embrace the "normal".

Just my thoughts on the matter.

The problem isn't discord itself. It's only when I join a call on discord, I thought you meant before joining a discord call.

Three scenarios:

Gaming only - no problem.

Gaming while Discord is running - no problem.

Gaming while Discord is running and joining a Discord call - PROBLEM.

Feel free to add to or otherwise edit my scenarios as applicable.

There are a number of ways to delve into the problem(s) a bit more.

Take a look in Reliability History/Monitor. Do you see any error codes, warnings, or even informational events being captured just before or at the time of the keyboard's keys getting stuck.?

Other tools that can be used are Task Manager, Resource Monitor, Process Explorer. Anyone or all three tools (use them only one at a time) may reveal some change when the keys start to stick.

May take some trial and error to set up and be able to watch the tool to determine what happens while gaming in Discord, joining a call, and the keys stick.

Overall, if there are no readily apparent problems then reinstall Discord. That might resolve the problem.

I have also noticed it happens when a game or anything is using lots of cpu/ram, (I have an i3-3rd gen cpu, and 12GB of ram.) So I think it's a problem with the cpu and ram being used highly.

The reliability monitor doesn't seem to have any errors, warning of information events captured related to one of my games or discord, In task manager I noticed most of the time I open a game it uses almost always 80%+ of either cpu or ram. Though that has been happening for a long time before this issue.

How is the RAM configured?
Modules and slots - installed per motherboard User Guide/Manual?

System specs?

= = = =

80%+ ......

There may be unnecessary or even unwanted processes running in the background.

Use Task Manager and Resource Monitor to identify the processes using CPU and RAM.

And to what extent. Another tool that can be used is Process Explorer (Microsoft, free).

Well I didn't build the pc myself, So I have to idea how it's configured.

my system specs are :
GPU : gt 1030
CPU : i3 3rd gen
Ram : 12GB

There are lots of unnecessary and unwanted processes running in the background, all of them run when I log on, and I have no idea how to disable them. But they all only take at most 0.5% of ram and 0.1% of CPU.

With no games open, only my browser, discord, and spotify the CPU is at 10% and RAM is at 32%.

In process explorer, My System's Idle process is at:
CPU : 85-95
Private bytes : 60k
Working bytes : 8k
And PID at : 0

Which is the highest in CPU Usage.

Regarding:

"There are lots of unnecessary and unwanted processes running in the background, all of them run when I log on, and I have no idea how to disable them. But they all only take at most 0.5% of ram and 0.1% of CPU."

Ignore for the time being. Much more will need to be known about them. Many are likely Windows related and barring a specific identified problem with any given process all such processes should be left alone.

= = = =

Just to be sure: the CPU is being used 85-95% when idle - no games or apps being run....?

Do remember to use the tool sorts to present the results in ascending or descending order. Look for a small triangle in column headers to change the sorts.

Try running the built in Windows Troubleshooters. The Trouble shooters may find and fix something.

Next try "dism" and "sfc /scannow".

https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-scannow-to-repair-windows-system-files-2626161

Take some screenshots showing the performance specs and post the screenshots here via imgur (www.imgur.com).

Someone may spot a problem or otherwise unexpected process.

Very good.

Remember to use the available sorts by clicking the column headers. And carefully scroll the full width and lengths (if necessary) of the windows being viewed.

I do not see any problems per se other than wondering a bit about Brave Browser.

Plus I noted a few other processes (game related, utilities, etc. ?) that can likely be disabled for testing purposes. A process does not need to consume a large amount of resources to cause problems...... Just simply may be getting in the way of things with respect to the keyboard and/or Discord. Buggy or corrupted non-windows code.

Overall, I do not see the System Idle Time as the problem.

You can easily find other similar links. Do not be tempted into any actions or downloads that some links may offer as a means to "fix the problem".

What to do:

[Note: As always be sure that you have all important data backed up at least 2 x to locations away from the system in question. Be sure that the backups are recoverable and readable.]

Temporarily disable as much as you can and determine if the keyboard/Disord problem stops. Keep a list of what you disable. Include the where and how.

Hopefully the keyboard/Discord problem will stop thereafter.

If so, then reinstall the disabled processes one at a time, etc. allowing time and at least one restart between re-enabling the next process.

Take your time and continue to watch system performance. Key is to discover what process or combination of processes gets in the way enough to cause keyboard and Discord to get stuck again.

I still didn't try your solution, but I think the problem has something to do with audio input, I tried talking using another app other than discord, and the keyboard still gets stuck, I tried talking using a game's voice chat, and the keyboard still gets stuck, note that I recently bought a new headset, So I tried my old headset and my keyboard stopped getting stuck, So I think it has something to do with my new headset. And not my PC or keyboard itself.
My new headset is the redragon zues X, if that matters.

Update : I have managed to fix it. Turns out the USB input I put my headset in was broken, I tried plugging it into another one and It worked. I didn't think my USB input was broken so I didn't know that was the issue, sorry for wasting your time, when the solution was as simple as changing where I plugged my headset in.
