My laptop hard drive sounds like it's loading but nothing displays on the screen

Can you see anything even faintly? If not, try it with an external monitor, you may need to hit a Function key combo to get it to output to a monitor, Fn + F4 or something similar. If you have no display at all, even with an external monitor, you will need to try a new motherboard. If you see a faint display on the screen, you need a new backlight or LCD panel.
