[SOLVED] my laptop does not detect my new Fios router

Solution
What model laptop do you have? I can think of only two situations

  1. The routers WiFi is turned off or faulty
  2. Your laptop supports 802.11N (2.4GHz) but not 802.11AC (5GHz) and the 2.4GHz is neither present on the router or is turned off

In either case you would probably be best off contacting FiOS support to get it figured out.

So looks like your WiFi is a RTL8188CE which specs say its 802.11n. Thats the 2.4GHz band.

Do you have a newer cell phone that can see the FiOS wireless network? If so then your router may only have 5GHz or the 2.4GHz radio is turned off.

Again I highly recommend contacting FiOS support as they will be better able to assist you with working on it.
