My laptop with win 8 is completely shot.I can only access the bios.

I BOUGHT A NEW WIN 8. SHALL I WIPE THE HARDDISK? iT WON'T BOOT WITH THE NEW DISK
IT'S A NEW LENOVO B590 AND IT HAD WIN8 PREINSTALLED BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENED.

Well, if you installed in Legacy guess you're stuck with it, UEFI requires info to be written to your Hard Drive and you'd need to re-install to do that. Then you're back to square one being unable to install in UEFI mode... Is the system running OK? If so leave as is, but if it's desperately slow then perhaps have another try at re-installing...

Woah! What prompted you to have to buy another disk? What happened to your System? Did you try Factory reset?
List what happened when your machine failed in the first instance in case there may be a hardware failure...

Sorry, but it was pointless to buy another copy of Windows 8 unless the hard drive died and your Warranty was expired.

Is it still under Warranty?
If so, get it replaced/repaired and then sell your copy of Windows 8.

If it's not under Warranty then you may have to buy a new HARD DRIVE but that may not be the problem either since we don't know what happened.

I lent it to my brother - foolish of me. anyway he paid for the new win8 -he doesn't know what happened but I suspect he tried to add something to windows or something. He is allways trying to change things and he thinks he knows a lot.

What happens when you press the Recovery Button (Next to Power Button) just after Power On?

The disk is completely clean - there is no partition - no nothing - i can't choose disk no. in diskpart so i need help to build gpt-uefi table up again if that is possible:??:

Sorry taking so long, but I can't find much info on your BIOS/UEFI from the Lenovo site. Was looking for info on Legacy BIOS or CSM mode to enable booting from your Installation Media but found nothing. (Not that you should need either!)
Only that you need to hit F12 on Power up to choose Boot Device. If you can boot from the Installer be sure to use Disk Options (Advanced) to delete any partitions on the disk and install to Unallocated Space...

I was able to to install using legacy mode so now the computer is running windows 8 in legacy mode - is there any way i can change that and get back to optimized defaults without uninstalling? Or shal I just leave it in legacy?
