Hi!

My ASUS N56VV Laptop that I purchased 10-12 years ago wasn't used for a few years, and before that it was used rarely - about once a year. Then I decided to turn it on, and I have the same problem:

1st pessing Power button: CD-ROM test Starts & stops (like normal startup), keyboard lighting ON then OFF (like normal startup), Power light is ON, Charging light is ON, monitor is OFF
about 10 of 2nd pessings Power button: Power light ON & in a two seconds OFF, everything else is OFF (Then the 1st pressing is repeated)

It's obvious that accu battery & CMOS battery is completely dead & I changed CMOS (CR2032) battery (I didn't wait few minutes). After replacing CR2032 nothing changed.

What I tried:

  • Holding Power button for a minute (with unplugged power cord & battery), then try to start (with accu battery & PSU, only with PSU) did not yield any results,
  • Tried to hold Ctrl+Home (with & w/o pushing Power Button) - no changes,
  • Testing RAM (I have only 1 4Gb module): I released it, clean it with rubber & brush, then tried to set it to each slot & turn laptop on - no changes
  • Testing PSU with multimeter (besides the fact that accu battery is probably dead, I don't use it at all & I decided to take it away) - PSU is working. and still no changes: CD-ROM test Starts & stops (like normal startup), keyboard lighting ON then OFF (like normal startup), Power light is ON, Charging light is ON (w/o battery Charging light is OFF), monitor is OFF

What else can I try ?
Thank you.

Previously it worked without a battery, only on one adapter, like several other ASUS models that I worked with. I always use original adapters. N56V adapter is 19V 6.32A
Besides this, I also have ASUS EEE-PC, bought in 2000 - the accu battery died a long time ago, CMOS battery too (with each reboot the BIOS asks for settings), but it works perfectly on the original adapter

I tried to power it up w/o CD-ROM & HDD, only with HDD, only with SSHD & only with SSD (naturally, between these operations, I held the power button for 1 minute with disconnected adapter) - still no changes: Power button light & power LED indicator are ON (like it was before), Keyboard lighting not blinking (like it wasn't before) & now to turn power off I have to hold power button for 10 sec (like it wasn't before).
