My laptop (MSI gx660) suddenly shuts down itself while I'm using it. Then I tried to turn it on but it won't.

When I tried to turn on the power, the led will flash once and nothing happens.

I already tried to remove the cmos battery and use the static method.

HELP!!!

Solution
Ok, this is what I can recommend, the problem of your laptop is internal failure, the most failure is the mainboard either cause by a high temperature. I recommend to dismantle your laptop and clean remove the dust build up, check also the rotation of your exhaust fan is still ok and the micro swtich resistance good using VOM. If you don't know how to do this you need to bring it in your service center or shop or any experts of laptop troubleshooting. Its time to dismantle, how many years your laptop is. Is it also use in gaming or not?

while on the desktop menu, i'm removing the dust on the keyboard and it suddenly shuts off without any power.. then when i try to turn on the laptop, the power button will just blink once and nothing happens

pls help

Depending on how old the laptop is.

If it`s about a year or two old, it can point to the cooling solution the laptop has for the cpu.

In most cases it`s down to the cpu getting too hot. and to prevent any damage to it the laptop shutting it`s self down or cutting power.

In such a case what you may find is a very thick layer of dust has clogged the cooling fins of the cpu cooling solution of the laptop.
Preventing sufficient air flow from the blower fan of the laptop from pushing enough cold air through the cooling fins of the laptops cpu cooler.

To access the cpu fan and cooling heat sinks of the Msi gx660 laptop, flip the laptop over and remove the largest main panel.
Remove the fan blower via the three to four screws that hold it to the laptops motherboard.
From there, you will have access to both of the cooling fin blocks.
If you can do that, you can check if it is a case of dust buildup.

Brush any dust that is clogging the fins with a small paint brush.

Once done re attach the blower fan back to the laptops motherboard via the screws.

At this point leave the main back plate off the laptop. so when you power the laptop up you and verify that the fan blower is spinning and not broken in anyway.

If the fan is spinning.
Then simply put the back plate back on the laptop and tighten all the screws down.

Test to see if the laptop works fine without a shut down or power off while using it.

Yes, i did remove the CMOS battery for 1 and a half hour and still nothing happens, the power button just blink once

OK sir, I'll try this method and update you
My laptop is about 5 years old

UPDATE!

I did everything you told me to do, but still nothing happens. Please help!

Yes I did tried your method, but still nothing happens.

If the led light flash with same problem you notice, another thing to try it, remove the battery pack, memory, and hard drive in the compartment at the back of your laptop. And power up your laptop without those parts. Notice what is the mode of your laptop, then back all parts again and power-up again. If the problem is the same you encountered. You need now to disassemble your laptop to check whether the fan is working and to remove the dustbuildup inside. Another thing one of the problem is the problem is like flashing only, the micro switch is grounded or you need to solder the pin.

My gaming laptop is 5 years already and I only play for about 2 hours a day. Okay I'll try bringing it to a service center and hopefully myblaptop will work again. Thanks for the answers BTW!

Hi jejemon, what is your decision right now?I forgot also to check your AC adapter, the one who provide DCV voltage so that our laptop can power-up, check also the cable of that AV adapter, the one you insert in the DC port of your laptop, you can use voltage ohmmeter if the voltage output is present, like 19 volts DCV. Kindly inform me
