So I currently have an ASUS ROG Zepherus g14 Alan Walker Edition with:
3050 Ti
AMD Ryzen 9 5900k
16GB DDR4

Which on paper seems like it would be a pretty beefy system but I struggle to run most games even on low without having screen tear, stuttering, fps drops, and half the time it sounds like my laptop is going to take off into the stratosphere. Am I Doing something wrong? I’m decent at configuring my pc and graphics settings and make sure all of my background processes are off, drivers are all up to date, i have it set on the best performance mode and it’s just sucks. I’m not sure what to do. A bit dissatisfied with a 1500 dollar laptop.

Mobile RTX 3050 Ti is not a very high performance gpu. Has only 4GB of vram.
It's slightly below good old GTX 970 in performance (released 9 years ago).

What games are you trying to play with it? In what resolutions?

Counter Strike/ Ready or not/ Tarkov. And I use 1080 p on a separate monitor. Would an addition external gpu give me better performance? If so what do you reccomend?

I also run into the problem of not having enough ram usage. I can only use a Little of 10gb of my 14 and I can’t overclock in the bios because of laptop restrictions.

You got ripped off, if you paid $1500 for that.

Vram issues aside, depending on the power configuration the OEM has it set at the 3050Ti can be right around GTX1070 territory. I replaced my deceased GTX1070* Asus G752 laptop with a bargain variety Acer Nitro whatever-or-something housing an RTX3050 non Ti (70W TGP) and it keeps up nicely with the ol Acer. Vram is definitely an limiting in newer titles though.

*GTX1070 laptop and desktop models being roughly at parity in the oh-so-wonderful Pascal days.

Possibly, but even in those currencies, a laptop with that GPU, at that price, is a bit ludicrous, if recently bought new. $1500 AUD is close to $1k USD. $1k can get you a 4060 equipped laptop in the US.
That’s ridiculous idk why I even bought this thing was litterally 1599 usd on Amazon so you are telling me I could’ve got something better for 500

$1599 could have gotten you this.

$500 would probably not get you quite the same level of performance, but $700 would be slightly better. The RTX 4050 is somewhere in between a 3050ti and a 3060.

1000CAD (with relevant taxes) gets you a 3050, unfortunately regional pricing is a thing. I'm happy with my little Acer, nearly a direct performance replacement for the i76700HQ/GTX1070 that was its predecessor. Due to having a newer processor it actually does quite a bit better in FFXIV....the only reason it exists. Also insanely easy to upgrade. It came with a measly 8GB RAM and 512GB storage, now has 16 in dual channel, as well as 3 SSDs (two NVMe, one SATA) for 2.5TB of storage. All of it came out of the Asus it replaced. There's a reason Acer sells so many of these s**t boxes...they're actually a decent value even at inflated canadian pricing.
