Hi guys, so a few days ago I built my pc and whilst i was doing so i couldn't seem to get my m.2 ssd to show up in bios. I have been working on it since then and the only way I have been able to get my pc to work is to put in a temporary 2.5" ssd in its place, however that m.2 ssd is required as i bought it as an expansion to the 128gb ssd since my pc only has a few gigs left. I really need for it to be able to work soon as it's return or exchange eligibility will be ending soon and then i'll be stuck with paper weight. I was wondering if you guys could help me configure the settings so that i can have this drive up and running.

My parts are:

Mobo: Gigabyte b450 gaming x

SSD: 1tb wd m.2 ssd (3D NAND)

and the additional 128gb kingston a4 2.2"ssd I was talking about.

Thank You

Kind Regards

your motherboard manual says it supports both m.2 SATA and PCI-E SSDs - so it should detect.
maybe you need to reseat it properly. Had to do that recently with an NVMe SSD (also in a Gigabyte mobo).

thanks, it's such a shame that they do not specify this at my store when you buy this ssd, i will look forward on how to get this returned or exchanged for a compatible one, while we're on this subject, any chance you know if this one will be compatible?

which part of manuals does it says so?
see:
Storage Interface1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 PCIe 3.0 x4/x2 SSD support)

there is no second storage interface
and if u mean page 16:
M2A_SOCKET/M2B_SOCKET (M.2 Socket 3 Connectors)
this seems to be copy paste from another board, as this one doesnt not have second m.2 slot

also here QVL list of M.2 supported drives
https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Document/mb_m.2-pcie_support_190902.pdf
there is 0 (zero) SATA m.2 drives supported

u can compare with another board QVL (aorus x570), just in case u dont believe it
https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Document/mb_m.2_x570_191107.pdf
here u can see plenty of SATA m.2 drives

10) M2A_SOCKET/M2B_SOCKET (M.2 Socket 3 Connectors) The M.2 connectors support M.2 SATA SSDs or M.2 PCIe SSDs (Note) and support RAID configuration. Please note that an M.2 PCIe SSD cannot be used to create a RAID set either with an M.2 SATA SSD or a SATA hard drive. To create a RAID array with an M.2 PCIe SSD, you must set up the configuration in UEFI BIOS mode. Refer to Chapter 3, "Configuring a RAID Set," for instructions on configuring a RAID array

May want to check you bios setting too: looks like you made need to select All Sata

SATA Support
All Sata Devices All SATA devices are functional in the operating system and during the POST.
Last Boot HDD Only Except for the previous boot drive, all SATA devices are disabled before the OS boot process completes. (Default) This item is configurable only when Fast Boot is set to Enabled or Ultra Fast.
