[SOLVED] My Mac has a Virus! Help please!

Hi, my mac has a strange virus where it does not allow me to go onto any websites, however it does come up with a random pop up ad. I have downloaded many antivirus software programs, however, they tell me that my laptop is fine when it clearly isn't, if anyone has any suggestions then that would be great! It's doing my head in and i really want to sort it out, I've only had it for a few months.

first of all, check for strange extensions installed on all your browsers. especially safari and firefox. It happened to a girl at work. I simply uninstalled the problematic extensions in every browser and it was fine.

I hope it's just that.

remove the bad or unknown driver extensions as ToineF said
download Avast for OS X and perform a scan

after you finish and remove all the malware if found, check for Mac software updates and download the security updates
