My microphone won't pick me up, but my friend can hear himself through discord VERY loudly.

Just today I made a discord call and the green circle that shows Discord picking up my audio was showing, but my friend told me he couldn't understand what I was saying at all because I was incredibly muffled. I downloaded Audacity and he was right. He also told me that whenever he made a noise, he heard it through my mic, even though I'm wearing very good headphones, and the sounds he hears from himself through me are significantly louder than the ones my mic is picking up.

right click on the speaker icon and click recording devices. then make sure you're not using something like virtual audio cable or something weird.
