My microphones are picking up input audio through the headphone near the mic instead of the mic itself.

So basically I tried to use some Skull Candy earphones as a mic, they wouldn't work unless I put the headphone right next to my mouth and talk into it. So I bought a new microphone and now it is doing the same thing. It only picks up my voice if I put my mouth onto the headphone of the headset. I was using my friends turtle beach for the past couple of months without a problem. I can post more details if need be, I am using a realtek audio software and a simple logitech headset.

Try right clicking on your sound icon in the bottom right of your desktop, hit recording devices, find the device you use for recording and see what the levels and decibel boost is at. In some cases headphones expect you to have the decibel boost up and then they work fine.

I have tried boosting the microphone, I have updated the audio drivers, for some reason it only detects my voice if it is right next to the headphone.
