My mobile P4 is 2.6Ghz but run at 957Mhz

Hi friends, I'm using a HP NX9010 laptop with a Intel Mobile P4 Northwood 2.66Ghz but when I see the detail in My PC->Properties I see that my cpu is running at 957Mhz an actually I feel my laptop slowest than never, why my cpu isn't working at full speed? how can I solve this?

probably due to throttleing, does ur laptop feel hot? if the processor gets too hot, it'll automatically downclock itself so it won't sizzle and burn

friends, how can I disable the SpeedStep feature? or exist some freeware to config my CPU to work at 100% always? any idea? thanks

Go to control panel - power options. Change from laptop to destop. This should still let you run off battery for 15 or 20 minutes between recharges.

i dont think you quite get it....

When you are playing solitare the CPU slows down to save bat power and heat.
When you open a program that requires the full speed like Halflife2...it will go back up to 2.6 without problems....your bat life will drop drmatically, and your heat will go up.

Its actually a GOOD thing that it does this. So calm yourself...you dont want your CPU doing 100% unless its doing something. So if you want it to run more FOLD
