My monitor is failing to display it's native 1080p resolution, instead showing 1400x1050 at largest on windows 10. It recommends 1024x768. It is a ViewSonic VX2233wm-3, my GPU is displayed in Device Manager as a 'ATI Radeon 4800 Series' and there is also an Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 under Display Adapters. My CPU is a 4-core Intel i5-3570k @ 3.40 GHZ

Solution
I've fixed my problem, it was simple. find "device manager" > display device (something like that it will say your gpu name) > right click it > "Install" > manual > something called see previous installs i think > click the one from 2015 or whatever one fixes your resolution. Worked for me after hours and hours of searching.
Same thing has just happened to me, by any chance did this happen after a game you were playing crashed? I have no fix for this and it's a really annoying problem because no matter how hard you try you can't change it back and if you do it goes back to 1024 x 768. I'm thinking it's maybe the gpu died but I don't know really. Wierd and annoying problem.

I think I know the cause now, but not how to fix it. I think it may be something to do with a game I played that is outdated, it's called 'Bookworm Adventures Volume 2' Because it doesn't run on my native 1080p resolution, and now it's just doing this. A little other thing is that there are black margins around my screen.
