[SOLVED] My monitor speakers won't play any sound

I just got a new monitor today: the ASUS VX279HG.

When I wanted to test the speakers, they won't play any sound. Hell, there isn't even any static coming from them despite being at 100% on Windows.

I checked their volume with the monitor menu, it definitely wasn't at 0, so I should at least hear something.

I have tried updating my drivers, and swapped around HDMI cables.

For reference, I'm using it plugged into my graphics card, which DID work with my other monitor.

If you go to "Control Panel > Sound > Playback" is your monitor set as the Default Playback Device?

Yes. I've tried that already with no results.
The green bars indicate that is IS outputting audio, yet I don't hear anything coming from the speakers.

That sounds like the problem is with your monitor or HDMI cable. Try reading through this No Sound Troubleshooting support page for you monitor.

After checking i don't think your monitor has speakers, just a headphone jack.

Just kind of wondering here. Are you sure your display HAS speakers? I see a headphone output, but nothing about speakers.

The OSD does say volume and the sound devices does show a monitor, so that's strange.

Plug some headphones into the monitor and you should hear sound.
